Mr. Sciacca has over 30 years of experience as a practicing engineer in all aspects of electric utility transmission and distribution systems (planning, construction, operation, maintenance).
Mr. Sciacca manages a team that is responsible for all activities associated with the development and delivery of IEEE’s entire catalog of standards.
Prior to joining IEEE, he was CEO of SCS Consulting LLC. He is a registered professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of electric utility operations, both domestic and international. He is a past Board member of the IEEE-Standards Association, and serves as a current member of the US National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission.
Mr. Sciacca is a frequent speaker and presenter at conferences and proceedings around the world, specializing in Smart Grid and Cyber Security, including China, India, Korea, Japan, Europe, North and South America. He also serves as an advisor for companies seeking to develop international markets for electric utility products and services.
He is Chairman of the Power System Relaying H13 Subcommittee developing cyber security standards for electric substations, and is Chair of the Substations Committee C1 Working Group which has developed cyber security requirements for utility intelligent electronic devices.
Mr. Sciacca is a graduate of Clarkson University and is a professionally registered engineer.
He has published numerous papers and articles on matters of electrotechnical standards and practices and been a frequent presenter and keynote speaker around the world.
He also serves as the IEEE representative to the IEC Standardization Management Board.
